South Carolina Locks In Fourth 2027 Official Visit, This Time With Post Zaniya Johnson
South Carolina has secured an official visit with Zaniya Johnson, a 6-4 post out of Biloxi, Mississippi, set for the weekend of October 2 — the same weekend point guard Kaylor Buse will also be in Columbia. Johnson’s full visit schedule also includes Florida State (August 28), LSU (September 10), Texas A&M (September 17), and Mississippi State (October 23).
The relationship between Johnson and South Carolina dates back roughly a year. The Gamecocks extended their offer in August 2025, and almost exactly one year later, Johnson included South Carolina when she released her top 12 at the start of this August. She has since trimmed that list down to a final five.
Johnson’s production backs up her standing as one of the top posts in the class. Ranked 17th nationally by Rivals and 18th by ESPN — third among post players specifically — she’s considered one of the best players to ever come out of southern Mississippi. Last season she averaged 14.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks, building on a sophomore campaign of 14.5 points and 8.6 rebounds. Her accolades include two Region Player of the Year honors, a first-team all-region selection, and honorable mention All-American recognition from MaxPreps, along with surpassing 1,000 career points as a sophomore and 1,000 career rebounds as a junior.
Johnson becomes the fourth 2027 prospect to publicly confirm an official visit to South Carolina, joining Jezelle “GG” Banks, Jordyn Palmer, and Kaylor Buse. Banks has confirmed visits to South Carolina, LSU, Texas, and Ohio State without specifying dates, while Palmer has set September visits to South Carolina and Ohio State and could add trips to UCLA, Maryland, and home-state Penn State. Buse, meanwhile, has already visited Washington and will follow with TCU, Utah, and Oregon before closing with South Carolina.
With South Carolina reportedly holding as few as three open scholarships for the class, a small, highly selective recruiting class is expected — meaning each of these four visits carries real weight in determining who ultimately joins the program.
