South Carolina’s incoming recruiting classes had plenty to celebrate this past week, with several 2027 and 2028 commits producing standout performances across the country.

Wide receiver Iveon Lewis headlined the group, opening his senior season in dominant fashion. Lewis hauled in four catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns, helping Huguenot (Va.) High School to a 28-3 win over Highland Springs in a game delayed more than 90 minutes due to weather.

On Defense, Davion Jones Shines in Marquee Matchup

Perhaps the most eye-catching performance came from defensive back Davion Jones, who turned in a dominant two-way disruption in a high-profile game against Providence Day. Jones recorded two interceptions, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, and two sacks in Hough’s (NC) 30-3 victory. His teammate and fellow 2027 commit Josh Dobson also factored into that same win, contributing multiple pass breakups.

Strong Showings Across the Skill Positions

Tight end Brooks Dow continued his hot start to the season, going 10-of-18 passing for 163 yards while adding 27 rushing yards and three total touchdowns in a win over Liberty — pushing his season total to 13 touchdowns through just three games.

Running back Brayden Tyson also put up big numbers, carrying the ball 23 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns in a 55-20 win over South Gwinnett, bringing his season totals to 360 rushing yards and seven touchdowns across three games.

Receiver DJ Huggins chipped in three catches for 43 yards and 20 rushing yards in a tight 12-9 win over North Paulding, while quarterback Jerry Meyer III posted a more modest outing, going 13-of-21 for 137 yards with two interceptions in a 27-24 win over Ennis — though his season numbers remain strong at 30-of-44 for 537 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions through two games.

Mixed Results Elsewhere

Not every commit found the win column. Tight end Judah Lancaster had an 18-yard touchdown catch in a 28-23 loss to St. Joseph’s Prep, while receiver Javien Robinson posted two catches for 50 yards in a 28-17 loss to Montour.

Linebacker Jackson Ross turned in a solid all-around defensive night, recording 6 tackles (2 for loss), a pass breakup, and a quarterback pressure in a win over Laurence Manning.

2028 Class Commits Also in Action

Looking ahead to the following class, receiver Jhamari Cain caught two passes for 42 yards in Huguenot’s win alongside classmate Lewis, while fellow 2028 pledge Joseph Gibbs posted a strong outing of his own — five catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in a 42-7 win over Southeast Guilford. Gibbs has been especially productive to start the season, racking up 12 catches, 283 yards, and five touchdowns through three games.
