Is Jordyn Palmer a Gamecocks?
Friday is decision day for five-star Westtown School standout Jordyn Palmer, a top target for South Carolina women’s basketball. She will announce her college choice this evening, with the ceremony starting at 6:00 p.m. She is choosing among South Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State and UCLA.
Her recruitment
Palmer recently trimmed her list to four schools and took official visits to all four. She has kept her recruitment quiet, with little public detail about how each visit went.
Her trip to Columbia was the weekend of Sept. 18. South Carolina also hosted elite prospects GG Banks and Taylor Brown that weekend, and both have since committed to the Gamecocks. Zaniya Johnson, another top prospect, has committed too. Gamecock fans are hoping for one more big win.
Her game
Palmer is a 6-foot-2 forward with a strong mix of size, balance, athleticism and strength. She can play physically but also handle the ball and score from all three levels, so she can play inside or on the perimeter. She also defends and rebounds. That makes her one of the most well-rounded players in the class, and a good fit for any of her finalists.
Where she ranks
- Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 5 overall in the 2027 class
- Position: Listed as a small forward, she is No. 2 at that position
- Pennsylvania: She is the No. 1 player in the state, at any position
- Consensus: She is a unanimous top-10 recruit and a unanimous top-three player at her position, listed as a small forward by Rivals and 247Sports and as a wing by ESPN
What to watch
Her decision comes at 6:00 p.m. Friday. A South Carolina commitment would give the Gamecocks a fourth member of their 2027 class, alongside Banks, Brown and Johnson. If she picks another school, South Carolina would still have a strong class but would miss on a top target.
