Brian Kelly Shares Key Injury Updates Ahead of South Carolina Showdown

After a much-needed bye week, LSU is refocused and ready to bounce back as it prepares for its Week 7 clash against Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bayou Bengals, sitting at 4-1, are looking to regain momentum following a tough road loss to Lane Kiffin’s No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels in their last outing.

LSU’s offense has been a point of concern this season. The Tigers have failed to score more than 20 points against three Power Four opponents, placing them among the bottom five offenses in the SEC. The lack of consistency has weighed heavily on head coach Brian Kelly, who knows his team must find its rhythm quickly if they hope to stay in contention.

However, there’s reason for optimism in Baton Rouge. Kelly delivered several encouraging injury updates this week, confirming that some key offensive contributors are ready to go.

OT Weston Davis is a go. RB Caden Durham is a go. QB Garrett Nussmeier is a go,” Kelly said in his weekly press availability.

He added that offensive lineman Paul Mubenga remains questionable, while wide receiver Aaron Anderson is listed as “probable.”

These returns could provide a much-needed spark for an LSU offense that’s struggled to find its footing. Having Nussmeier back under center and Durham healthy in the backfield gives the Tigers a chance to regain balance and tempo heading into Saturday night’s game.

To fend off an upset-minded South Carolina team looking to climb back into the College Football Playoff conversation, LSU will need to show significant improvement on the offensive side of the ball.

Despite their recent inconsistencies, oddsmakers still favor LSU by 9 points heading into the primetime matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network — a golden opportunity for the Tigers to prove their bye week reset paid off.
