After a tough Saturday night loss at Ole Miss, South Carolina football is heading into its bye week — and making major changes. Head coach Shane Beamer has dismissed offensive coordinator Mike Shula, marking a significant shake-up as the Gamecocks look to regroup before facing No. 3 Texas A&M in two weeks.
On Monday, the Southeastern Conference revealed the kickoff details for that matchup. South Carolina (3-6, 1-6 SEC) will travel to College Station to take on Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0 SEC) at noon (Eastern) on Saturday, November 14. The game will air on ABC or ESPN, with the final network decision expected later this week. Fans can also stream the action live on the ESPN app.
Interestingly, the noon kickoff will be South Carolina’s first early start of the season. The Gamecocks have mostly played under the lights, with only three previous day games — against Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Oklahoma. The meeting with A&M will also be Carolina’s fifth straight contest against a top-15 opponent, a daunting stretch in which they’ve gone 0-4 so far.
Last season, however, the Gamecocks stunned a top-10 Aggies team at Williams-Brice Stadium, cruising to a 44-20 victory. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers exploded for 350 total yards and three touchdowns, while running back Rocket Sanders racked up over 230 yards from scrimmage and two scores. Tight end Josh Simon added 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns as the Gamecocks put on one of their best offensive performances of the Beamer era. Sellers even earned National Player of the Week honors for his effort.
Defensively, South Carolina locked down in the second half of that game, allowing no points after halftime and securing the second win in what became a six-game streak to end the regular season.
The story has been very different in College Station, where South Carolina has never beaten Texas A&M. The Aggies are 5-0 all-time at Kyle Field, including a 30-17 win in 2023.
This year’s Aggies are not just strong — they’re undefeated and on the verge of a historic finish. A win over Missouri followed by one against South Carolina would all but guarantee Texas A&M’s first College Football Playoff berth.
For the Gamecocks, though, the stakes are just as high. With six losses already, South Carolina must win out to keep its bowl hopes alive. After the trip to College Station, Beamer’s squad will wrap up the regular season with home games against Coastal Carolina and Clemson.
