Gamecocks Softball: Abigail Knight Begins Professional Career With Knoxville Miracle
A new chapter is officially beginning for former South Carolina softball outfielder Abigail Knight, who is taking her talents to the professional level.
The Knoxville Miracle have signed Knight to a professional contract, adding the former Gamecock to their inaugural roster ahead of the franchise’s first season in the Professional Softball League (PSL) in summer 2027.
The announcement was celebrated with the message, “To the pros she goes,” marking an important milestone for Knight after her collegiate career took her through Boston College, Charlotte and South Carolina.
From South Carolina to the professional ranks
Knight finished her collegiate career at South Carolina, competing in the demanding Southeastern Conference and helping the Gamecocks reach the NCAA Super Regional round in 2025.
Her path to the SEC was built through multiple stops. Before joining South Carolina, Knight played at Charlotte, where she produced a .309 batting average with 26 RBIs in 2024 while going through the season without committing an error in the outfield.
That experience across different programs and conferences ultimately became an important part of her professional résumé.
Knight delivered when the stakes were high
One of the biggest highlights of Knight’s South Carolina career came during the Gamecocks’ NCAA postseason run.
In South Carolina’s regional-clinching victory over North Florida, Knight recorded two hits and three RBIs as the Gamecocks won 8-0, advancing to the Super Regional round.
She also produced in other important moments during her time in Columbia, including driving in two runs against nationally ranked Duke and delivering the game-winning plate appearance in an extra-inning SEC victory over Ole Miss.
Those performances are part of what attracted Knoxville to Knight.
Knoxville head coach Craig Snider praised her ability to handle pressure and compete in important situations.
“Abigail has played a lot of really good softball, and you can see that in the way she competes. She understands big moments.”
Snider also emphasized that Knight has already been tested at high levels, pointing to her experience in both the ACC and SEC as well as postseason competition.
A veteran addition to Knoxville’s inaugural roster
The Miracle are building their first professional roster with players who bring different forms of experience, and Knight fits that approach as an experienced outfielder.
The team’s official roster identifies her as Outfield — University of South Carolina, while highlighting her ACC and SEC experience, postseason production and versatility.
For Knoxville, the signing is also part of the larger launch of professional women’s softball in East Tennessee. The Miracle are scheduled to begin their inaugural season in summer 2027, with the PSL’s 2027 season featuring six teams playing 30-game schedules.
A new opportunity for a former Gamecock
Knight’s professional opportunity represents the continuation of a collegiate journey defined by adaptability. She competed at Boston College, Charlotte and South Carolina, continually moving into new environments and proving herself at different levels.
That resilience is something the Knoxville organization specifically highlighted when announcing her signing.
