GG Banks Down Projected commitment odds to a Three-Way Battle: South Carolina, LSU and Texas
Estimated commitment odds are my own editorial projections, not figures from any outlets.
Five-star point guard Jezelle “GG” Banks has not made her decision. Sources tell RareFootage Sports that Dawn Staley and South Carolina may have the edge, but Banks and her camp have not confirmed anything.
Banks is rated the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2027 class by 247Sports. She is a 5’9″ combo guard known for elite handles and passing. She has said she is a “shifty” player who takes risks with her passes and wants a school that helps her play more efficiently without changing her game. A national recruiting update lists her finalists as LSU, South Carolina, Texas and Ohio State.

These add up to 100% across the three schools. That leaves out Ohio State, the fourth finalist, and any late surprise.
South Carolina (45%)
Why the Gamecocks lead: They were the last of the three to get her on campus, and they made the most of it. Banks was one of the first three official visitors of the 2027 class, and the marquee welcomed her with “Make em Jezelleous.” The visit included a football game, and the staff treated it as a full-court press. Staley’s reputation for developing guards fits Banks’s stated wish for growth without a rebuilt game.
The concern: South Carolina only entered her recruitment in July, so it is playing catch-up on relationship time.
LSU (35%)
Why the Tigers stay close: LSU was one of the first schools to be seen as a leader. Banks listed LSU first among the schools she talks to most. Analysts note that her ball-handling and versatility fit an SEC backcourt under Kim Mulkey. That early lead is why LSU remains a serious threat.
The concern: Mulkey’s system and her preference for not being reshaped as a player could clash.
Texas (20%)
Why the Longhorns are still in it: Texas is also high on her short list, and she has now completed an official visit there. The program has been a top-tier national contender.
The concern: Texas gets the “warm” label from RareFootage, compared with “hot” for South Carolina and LSU. It appears to be the third option for now.
What to watch
- Ohio State: It is a finalist, and an official visit there could shake up the picture.
- Other names: She has also named Notre Dame, Louisville, North Carolina and NC State as programs she talks to a lot.
- Timing: No commitment date has been reported, so this could stretch out.
Until Banks announces something, everything here is projection. South Carolina looks like the slight favorite, but LSU is close behind.
