South Carolina Coming Off a Historic Performance
The Gamecocks enter fresh off a 57-0 blowout of Kent State, powered by first-year offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ new-look scheme. South Carolina posted 645 yards of offense — its first 600-yard game since facing Wofford on Nov. 23, 2024, and the fifth-most total yards in program history. The Gamecocks tallied 35 first downs and punted just once all game, while quarterback LaNorris Sellers went 19-of-23 for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, USC recorded its first shutout since a 46-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Sept. 4, 2021.
About Towson
Towson enters at 0-2 after losses to Maine (21-18) and Navy (42-15), the latter a game in which the Tigers surrendered 507 rushing yards. This will be Towson’s second and final matchup against an FBS opponent this season — historically, the program is just 1-16 all-time against FBS teams, with its only win coming against Connecticut back in 2013. Head coach Pete Shinnick, now in his fourth season, previously led West Florida to a 2019 Division II national championship, and Towson has finished .500 or better in six of its last seven seasons.
