South Carolina’s Kent State Gameday Doubles as Loaded Recruiting Weekend
South Carolina’s home opener against Kent State is drawing a stacked list of visitors across multiple recruiting classes, giving Shane Beamer’s staff a major opportunity to make in-person impressions on several rising prospects.
2028 Class Targets
Leading the group is 2028 DE Cassell Cruickshank of Fayetteville, NC, who recently added an offer from Stanford and plans to be in Columbia Saturday. He’ll be joined by fellow Fayetteville prospect CB Mikhie Cruickshank, part of a broader wave of 2028 talent visiting this weekend.
WR Kaydan Whiteside, who just picked up an offer from Purdue, will also visit South Carolina Saturday — though notably, he’s splitting his weekend visits, with a trip to Clemson planned for the following Saturday as well.
Rounding out the 2028 visitors are OL Calvin Landy of Alpharetta, GA, WR Seth Dzissah (6-1, 160) out of Loganville, GA, DL Antonio Flowers (6-3, 300) from Charlotte, DL Christian McGowan of Jacksonville, Fla., and WR Zyon Robinson of Powder Springs, Ga. — a deep group spanning multiple defensive and offensive positions.
In-State and Regional Wide Receiver Targets
South Carolina is also hosting a strong wide receiver contingent close to home. WR Maleek Miller of Dutch Fork and WR Nick Gordon of Cheraw are both scheduled to visit Saturday, giving the Gamecocks a chance to make their case to two in-state pass-catchers.
Looking Further Ahead
The visitor list extends beyond the 2027 and 2028 classes entirely. 2029 QB Landon Robinson of Lake Wylie and 2030 LB Kingston Washington of Hammond are both slated to attend — an early but notable sign of how far out South Carolina’s staff is casting its recruiting net.
Committed Prospect Making It Official
Amid all the uncommitted targets, South Carolina’s 2027 class already has a piece locked in attendance — DE Jayden Broadie of Rolesville, NC, a verbal commit, will use the weekend for his official visit with the program.
With this many prospects on campus across five different recruiting classes, Saturday’s game represents one of South Carolina’s most significant recruiting weekends of the fall, regardless of how the action unfolds on the field against Kent State.
