South Carolina Lands Commitment from Versatile In-State Star Caden Ramsey
South Carolina football’s 2026 recruiting class grew stronger on Monday when Cross High School standout Caden Ramsey pledged his commitment to the Gamecocks during a ceremony at his school.
Ramsey chose South Carolina over competing offers from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse, solidifying USC’s push to keep homegrown talent in-state.
Although Ramsey led the entire state in interceptions last season, his future in Columbia is expected to be on the offensive side of the ball.
“Coach Beamer and Coach Elliott, thank you for taking a chance on a young kid from Cross. Go Cocks,” Ramsey said during his announcement.
A 6-foot-5, 210-pound multi-sport athlete, Ramsey lines up at both tight end/wide receiver and safety for Cross, a Class A program that reached the state championship game last year. He becomes the 16th commitment for USC’s 2026 class and the seventh in-state prospect to join the fold.
The Gamecocks first extended an offer in June, and Ramsey was back on campus this past weekend for South Carolina’s win over South Carolina State. He is scheduled to take his official visit this Saturday when USC opens SEC play against Vanderbilt at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Through two games this fall, Ramsey has already flashed his versatility — tallying 10 tackles, two interceptions, 10 receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns, plus a 77-yard kickoff return.
As a junior, he showcased his two-way dominance by catching 40 passes for 749 yards and nine touchdowns while also recording a state-leading 14 interceptions with 54 tackles.
Ramsey is rated a three-star prospect by On3, Rivals, and 247Sports, and his athletic profile is bolstered by basketball, where he averaged 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds last season.
