South Carolina and Kentucky square off Saturday night in what feels like a virtual must-win showdown. While it’s only September, the outcome at Williams-Brice Stadium could drastically shape the rest of the season for both teams. The Gamecocks announced a sellout crowd, ensuring a raucous home environment.
Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m., with coverage on the SEC Network and streaming available via the ESPN app.
Neither program cracked the Top 25 in this week’s polls. That’s been the case all season for Kentucky, but for South Carolina it marks a swift fall—just two weeks ago, the Gamecocks were ranked inside the top 10 in some outlets.
Uniforms have been a storyline once again in Columbia. A year ago, South Carolina didn’t repeat a look until the 11th game of the season. That tradition continues in 2025 with a fresh gameday combination.
On Saturday afternoon, the Gamecock Football social media team unveiled the new look: black helmets, black jerseys, and white pants. The helmets carry a slightly updated design from the ones worn in the 2023 win over Kentucky—the Block C logo is noticeably larger, a change first introduced midway through the 2024 season.
It’s a rare uniform pairing for USC, last worn in the 2017 Outback Bowl, when the Gamecocks defeated Michigan.
Kentucky, on the other hand, has yet to officially confirm its uniform choice. But the Wildcats posted a picture of South Carolina native Quaysheed Scott in an all-white look, a possible clue to what fans might see under the lights on Saturday.
